Wheat Rava Karabath

The difference between Upma and karabath is very mild but the taste differs vastly. While doing Karabath we add more veggies and tomatoes and it is made adding more water to bring it to the consistency of Pongal. The fancy version of Upma is karabath I believe and of course it is tastier and healthier when doing with wheat and fresh veggies...

Serves: 4

Ingredients for making Wheat Rava Karabath:


Wheat Rava 2 cups
Thinly chopped veggies like onions, carrots, beans, cabbage, capsicum as much you wish
Chopped tomatoes from 2 tomatoes
Slitted green chillies 4
Curry leaves and Coriander leaves
Oil 4 tea spoons
Mustard seeds 1/2 tea spoon
Urad dal and chana dal 1 tea spoon each
Roasted cashews few (Optional)



How to make Wheat Rava Karabath?


Heat a pan with oil.
Do the seasoning with mustard seeds, urad dal and chana dal.
Once they splutter and the dals become brown put the onions and green chillies to it.













After frying it for 30 seconds add the tomatoes and fry till the tomatoes become soft.
Now add the chopped veggies and fry for a minute.
Add the Wheat rava and fry in medium flame for two minutes.
Add required salt and pour 5 cups of water to it.













Mix well and close the pan with a lid.
Keep the flame to minimum and allow it to get cooked for 15 minutes.










Switch off the stove.
Garnish with coriander, curry leaves and cashewnuts.
