Tight lipped about it for so many years. The actress has managed to keep it a secret for 40 years, but the 60-year-old has now revealed she enjoyed a whirl-wind romance with the actor.
He was married at the time with kids, publicity of that sort wouldn’t have done either of them any good. Carrie, who played Princess Leia in the franchise, was just 19 at the time, while Ford was a then 33-year-old married father-of-two.
I guess his wife was even a bigger fool than all of us put together.
But that's Hollywood for you. Scandalous romances are 'a thing' in the movie capital of the world.
The pair were filming the first Star Wars in 1976 when the affair took place.
“It was so intense," Carrie told People magazine.
“It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend."
You've got to wonder what made her come out with it now. According to an excerpt from her memoir The Princess Diarist, quoted by Radar Online, the actor offered to drive her home one night because she was "wine sodden" and they ended up in bed together.
Apparantly it was just for the moment.The pair's romance came to an end when filming wrapped, but she remembers their brief romance fondly.
She says she found him "really handsome" while she was sexually "inexperienced".
“I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind.”
Ford's marriage hit the rocks 3 years later. The actor's marriage to Mary Marquardt came to an end in 1979, though Carrie insisted it was "for reasons having nothing whatsoever to do with me".
