But the crazy thing is that it seems to be developing into something more sinister now. Jimmy Kimmel invited tourists from a Hollywood bus tour into the Dolby Theatre and invited them on stage.
It turns out the audience's favourite tourist had a shady past. The amazed celeb filled audience instantly fell in love with Gary and his fiancée Vickie, who literally couldn’t hide their excitement and spent the whole time taking selfies with the celebrities. The facts about the fun loving couple are far less appealing. The Tourist Jimmy Kimmel brought to Oscars was actually once arrested for attempted rape and was bizzarely once jailed for life in 1997 for stealing perfume!
Not meaning to judge anyone, but the critics should lay off Gary. Afterall this year's Oscar winner for best actor Casey Affleck, also has a history of sex crime charges. No Judgement. Gary didn't invite himself, Jimmy did that. The 59-year-old Gary was first for his crime back in 1994.
Gary posed for a selfies with Mahershala Ali, Denzel Washington and a host of other stars. He also kissed the hands of Oscar legend Meryl Streep and actress Nicole Kidman.
Public records show he was released from Corcoran Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in California.
Obviously Now a new man, turning over a new leaf, It is unclear whether the Oscars organisers were aware of Gary’s history.
Gary told ABC7: ‘Change is possible. It’s a sad day to be in prison for 20 years and not be able to be a dad, granddad to your children.’
The jolly couple, from Chicago, plan to tie the knot this summer in California after meeting while Gary was in jail.
The big question is this—Will Jimmy Kimmel have invited tourist Gary to the 2017 Oscars had he known about his past? I am guessing he wouldn't have.
