11 year old boy commits suicide after girlfriend 13 faked her death on social media
The heart broken boy died by hanging himself.
Socialising online is one of the favourite pass times for millions around the world. But for an increasing number of people, it has turned to sick avenues of tragedy. Social media bullying and it's powerful influence has caused yet another death.
His tragic death was a result of a social media prank that has caused irreversible damage. On Thursday, Tysen Benz'smother Katrina Goss revealed that her son died after falling prey to a 'manipulative' prank cruelly hatched by his 13-year-old girlfriend.
According to the boy's mother:
'She did a prank that made it look like she killed herself and used other friends and their [social media] accounts to make it look like she killed herself,' Goss told the New York Post. 'So, he believed her and said, "I’m going to kill myself."'
He didn't die immediately. He was on life support for several weeks, but succumbed to his injuries and passed away on Tuesday at a hospital in Ann Arbor.
Great and sensitive kid. His heartbroken mother Katrina Goss described her son as an athlete, comedian, friend, brother, charismatic and all around amazing child.
'He impulsively chose to end his own life as a result of a horrific act of a social media prank which is under investigation by authorities,' Ms Goss said.
Still being investigated.The details of the prank are not yet clear, but Ms Goss insists that the girl should be brought up on criminal charges for her actions.
The girl has not been named because she is a minor.
