Christiano Ronaldo to Champions League critics "you're just jealous"
I'm still number 1; Christiano Ronaldo wins 3rd champions league title and slams critics
Real Madrid and Portuguese football talisman Christiano Ronaldo wins his third champions league title on Saturday with Real, in a crunching hard fought victory against bitter city rivals Athletico Madrid.
But in the midst of the victory celebrations, the 31 year old striker was criticized by some, for his lack lustre performance in Real Madrid's big matches this season.
Christiano Ronaldo hit out at his critics saying that only "jealously" would make anyone not to be proud of his achievements.
The prolific striker scored the winning goal on Saturday in an edgy penalty shoot out that saw Real Madrid claim victory over Athletico Madrid.
This is what the Real forward had to say to his critics.
"Only the jealous don’t feel that (pride), " Ronaldo said. "But I don’t care about that. I always keep the people who love me.
"So this Champions League is for them, the guys who support me all the time, my fans in Portugal and around the world."
C. Ronaldo claims that the people in his home country of Portugal are very proud of him since he is the first person in the nation's history to win 3 European league titles.
His critics and doubters claim that his overall impact on Madrid's big matches is on the decline.
In important matches this season which include PSG, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City, C. Ronaldo scored only one goal, which was the stunning winner in El Clasico victory in April.
But Ronaldo who scored 51 goals in all competitions this season says he is still number one.
"This season I was the No 1 in the team, again, for most minutes," Ronaldo added. "I have more than 4,000. That means a lot to me. It means I am still good, I still feel good physically, mentally. I was the top scorer in this competition again (with 16 goals).
"If you ask me if I feel tired now, of course, I have a lot of minutes in the legs. But I am still there, I am always there. I showed the team I am there for the good moments and bad moments. This is what makes me feel proud."
"To win my third Champions League is unbelievable."
With an overall remarkable performance in all competitions, the Portuguese goal getter is again one of the top favourites to win the coveted Ballon d' Or this season.
