She was a stunning beauty who hooked up with the wrong man. And he would only let her go if he could ruin her beauty and scar her for life—he did. 

A disfigured Miss Italy beauty queen who was scarred after her ex-boyfriend allegedly threw acid in her face has emerged publicly after her horrific ordeal. The brave lady showed the gruesome nature of her injuries for the first time.

27 year old Gessica Notaro was a finalist in the Miss Italy competition in 2007, but after a horrific ordeal that inflicted her with life altering injuries, she has ppeared on a talk show in the country today.

‘I want you to see what he did to me. This isn’t love,’ she said after removing a scarf from her face.

She wanted the world to see—and learn. The host of the show Maurizio Costanzo told her she didn’t have to reveal her scars but she was adamant she wanted to.

Ms Notaro would have gone blind in one eye, if not for surgery carried out to save the sight in her left eye. 

The former beauty pageant contestant spoke on the television show: ‘While the acid ate away at my face I was on my knees praying,’ she added in the interview.

‘I prayed to God: take away my beauty but at least leave me with my sight.’

Determined to still live her dream. Ms Notaro is not letting the incident stop her from pursuing her dream of singing, and plans to release a music album.

‘My face is ruined but my facial features are still there. My mouth is intact. So is my nose. I still recognise myself in the mirror. This eye should have been blind but it isn’t,’ she told MailOnline last week.

She revealed that her voice was saved because during the attack,  she was alert enough to spit out as the acid entered her mouth.

Ex boyfriend and the accused Tavares, from Cape Verde, denied the allegations and will face a trial for the acid attack on his ex girlfriend.
