Actress Gillian Anderson set to leave X Files after season 11
For almost a decade we were thrilled by the deep, captivating and sometimes dark TV Series the X-files. Then it all ended. But just when the fans of this Super hit show thought they'd have to rely on reruns to relive their favourite moments of the iconic series, Scully and Mulder(love those names by the way) came at us again with the renewed and revived show.
But before you get carried away basking in the glow of the 10th season, Fans of The X-Files should really prepare themselves for another disappointment— the end of Agent Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson)'s tenure in the much loved series. What in the world of humans and aliens will Agent Mulder do now?
When the two actors reunited, their onscreen love story was as intriguing as ever in season 10. Although the show's 10th season revival brought Scully and Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) back together again after nearly a decade and a half, it looks like her second run on the series won't be as long-lived as the first. I'm already hoping she'll change her mind! Imagine the X-Files without Jillian Anderson.
The news emergerged during preparation for the forthcoming eleventh season, when the cast descended on New York Comic-Con Sunday to deliver a first-glimpse at what's to come. Anderson revealed to press that she plans to walk away from the series after this year. Here's what the 44 year old actress who portrays brilliant FBI special agent Dana Scully in the series had to say:
"I think this will be it for me," she explained when asked whether she would continue on for a 12th season or beyond. Anderson added that the only reason she had agreed to come back for the 10th season after so much time away from the show was that she "felt like it wasn't over. It didn't feel like we necessarily [delivered] everything the fans were expecting of us last time, and so it was that."
She thought all will be rounded up in season 10. But during the cast panel for the series, Anderson added that returning for an eleventh season wasn't already what she had intended. "I thought I was done [after Season 10]," Anderson said. The star added that while she wasn't surprised by getting the call asking her to return for Season 11, she was "surprised at [her] answer" -- which, obviously, was yes.
The X-files' eleventh season which is scheduled to premiere in January 2018 on Fox, will pick up where it left off.
And since the Show's millions of fans have been pinning for Scully and Mulder to finally "quit fooling around and hook up already" It appears the Show's producers are going to make that dream come true. So we hope.
For those of you unfamiliar with the long running series, you should know that these two characters gave us one the deepest, most complicated and most powerful love stories ever witnessed on any Television show
Now it seems very likely that we will be seeing the last of Anderson as the show enters its 11th season on air.
We are sure going to miss her—again. But for the moment X-files fans should put their feet up and fully enjoy the forthcoming season as if it's their last, because It just might be.
