Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell fans raise 50 thousand pounds for her cancer treatment
Some celebrities never know how much they affect people’s lives, until fans step up at the time of need to give their Idols a helping hand.
Fans were shocked when the award-winning soap star Bracknell was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer.
Former Emmerdale actress Leah Bracknell fans raisse £50,000 fundraising target needed to pay for pioneering cancer treatment for the ailing actress.
An urgent appeal for help. Her partner Jez Hughes launched an online appeal on Thursday to raise cash for cutting edge immunotherapy in Germany that they hope will give her a fighting chance to beat the disease.
And her fans did come to her rescue.
This morning the total raised on the GoFundMe website had reached the magic £50,000 mark - including a £5,000 pledge from one anonymous donor.
The popular 52-year-old actress, who played Zoe Tate in the ITV soap Emmerdale from 1989 to 2005, was diagnosed with the condition five weeks ago, as she prepared to return to the stage in a comedy show.
In an emotional post about her condition, the mother-of-two - described how she had been enjoying life as a 'fit and healthy' yoga teacher when her world was 'unexpectedly turned on its head'. Being diagnosed as Terminally ill at any moment in one's life is never easy to take.
Brave words. Writing on her fundraising page, Leah vowed to fight the cancer with 'a glass half full', describing how her priority was 'to defy expectation'.
'Please imagine me writing this and speaking in quite an upbeat and cheerful voice,' she wrote.
'Do NOT imagine me sitting here writing through a veil of tears. I am not. Or feeling sorry for myself. I am not (yet).
'My priority is getting well and strong, so that I can continue to endeavour to be a good, mother, daughter, wife, or at least the best I can be.
We thank her adoring and concerned fans who have helped in giving her a chance to continue in life, love and entertainment.
