Sprint king Usain Bolt to retire before the end of the year

It's hard to find sports careers that are as successful,flamboyant and legendary as the athletics career of Bolt. But even the brightest careers have a life span. 

Bolt is set to retire. Yes—he said it himself. World’s fastest man Usain Bolt will retire from athletics in August this year. Much to the dismay of his millions of fans and the world of track and field as a whole. 

You could say that it was the charismatic Jamaican sprinter that brought credibility back into a sport marred by years of doping scandals by some of the biggest names in its history.

According to Bolt he has achieved everything he dreamt of and has no reason to continue running.

The Jamaican sprint star made this public on the red carpet at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco.

“I’ve just done everything I wanted to do in the sport,” Bolt told Reuters.

“I asked (former U.S. sprinter) Michael Johnson the same question, ‘why did you retire when you were on top?’. He said the same — he had done everything he had wanted to do in athletics so there was no reason to stay in the sport. Now I understand what he means.
“I just wanted to run and to be part of it. I had to take it easy because I wasn’t at the level I would usually be. It was the first time I had competed at this time of the year.”

Just recently Usain Bolt's olympic treble treble record was shattered after his relay teammate Nesta Carter's retested samples came up positive for banned substances. Although Carter's recent appeal against the ban may help him get his medal back. 

But it will take a whole lot more than that to ruin the brilliant career of the Jamaican speedster.
