True love is really tested when things go wrong. If you want to impress someone, try not to use a crocodile to do it. A young man named Lee de Paauw certainly didn't know this when he unwittingly jeopardized his life by tangling with the deadly reptile. Fortunately, he is incredibly lucky to be alive after having a life or death fight with a giant croc.
It was probably the biggest mistake of his life. Lee’s bravado almost immediately backfired once he jumped into the treacherous waters.
Sophie said: “It all happened very fast. Pretty much as soon as he jumped in, there was splashing and screaming.
The crocodile attack occurred while The 18-year-old Queenslander was partying at a backpacker hostel in the town of Innisfail, on Australia’s east coast.
He developed a crush on a girl—it almost led to his death. After striking up a conversation with Brit Sophie Paterson, Lee bragged that backpackers were more likely to get eaten by crocodiles than Australians. Strange notion!
Foolishly and blinded to reason by his infatuation, he decided to go one step further and prove it - accepting a dare from a group of revellers to jump into the nearby croc-infested river. Did he actually believe the dangerous flesh eating reptiles would pal up, and help him through his dare?
The object of his affections and Somerset local Sophie, 24, told The Courier Mail: “He was walking about the local creek saying, 'I can swim out', and so we said, 'go on then', but we didn't think he would do it.”

”There was blood everywhere and he just wouldn't stop screaming."
Luckily the teen survived the crocodile attack by the skin of his teeth. He probably also learned—the hard way, that love and crocodiles do not mix—at all.
