Anthony Joshua says Mike Tyson would have battered him in a boxing match
Even now Iron Mike still casts fear in the hearts of great boxers. Even Knockout artiste Anthony Joshua admits Mike Tyson would have beaten him at his peak.
Probably one of the best pound for pound boxers in the world right now, British boxer Anthony Joshua is currently the IBO, IBF and WBA World Heavyweight boxing Champion. After an impressive undefeated record, he firmly stamped his place among world champions when he defeated boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko. So it was a bit of a shock to fans when the big man argued that he could never have beaten ‘Iron’ Mike Tyson in his prime.
During a recent appearance, the 27 year old champ clearly stated: “Mike Tyson would have battered me. There was no way I could have taken on that guy”.
For those of you unfamiliar with Tyson’s record, he had 50 wins, and then get this—44 of those wins came by the way of knockout. If that record doesn't scare you then you should probably go and watch some of his old fight videos and get the brutal picture. At the peak of his powers, Mike was like a raging bull on steroids. Although he also lost 6 times during his career, most of those defeats came during his decline.
AJ’ who currently has a perfect record of 19 knockout wins believe he wouldn't have stood a chance against the youngest heavyweight champion in history.
“I would have taken a dive against Tyson,” he said, “he was a beast mate… I would have taken that pay cheque”.
Although some fans disagree with him, Joshua seems convinced he is not anywhere near Iron Mike's level.
