Johnson has emerged as investigations into the shooting that rocked Dallas continues.
Dallas police releases a statement detailing how they had to use an explosive device which was attached to a robot to kill Micah Johnson, the Shooter and sole suspect in the well planned sniper attack that killed five Dallas police officers on Thursday night, and early Friday morning.
Experts say this is the first time such a technique has been used by US law enforcement.
During a press conference Police Chief David Brown stated that after several long hours of attempting to negotiate with the suspect, the robot was had to be deployed.
It was targeted at the second floor of El Centro College in Dallas were the sniper was located.
This is the statement released by the police detailing the events.
"We cornered one suspect and we tried to negotiate for several hours - negotiations broke down, we had an exchange of gunfire with the suspect," he said.
"We saw no other option but to use our bomb robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was,” he said. Brown explained that “other options" would have exposed the police officers to great danger.
The black power group has already claimed responsibility for the attack and threatened further violence to come.
