Arsene Wenger set to break Alex Ferguson's English premier league record next season
After 21 seasons in charge of London club Arsenal, Arsene Wenger will break Alex Ferguson's record in the Premier league.
Sir Alex who is the most successful manager in English football history, is the current holder of the Most English Premier League matches managed. He held the record after 810 games in charge of Manchester United. I'm addition, the ex-Red Devils manager is also the longest serving manager since the forming of the EPL as we know it today, managing for 21 seasons.
The Frenchman has already equaled one record held by the legendary Scot. Wenger just finished his 21st season with Arsenal, and the Gunners’ manager will break the record of his Scottish counterpart next season. He has been in charge of Arsenal for 790 games, and since he just signed a new two-year contract, he will pass Ferguson’s 810 next season as well.
In football today, any manager that can hold his place for longer than three or four years is talked about as “long-serving”.
Even though you cannot compare him with Ferguson in terms of Trophies won, you have to give him credit for the consistent impact he has had on the club for two decades.
