Shocker as world's top footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is charged with tax evasion in Spain. 

In a shocking revelation, Spain's prosecutor's office in Madrid said on Tuesday said it had filed a lawsuit against Cristiano for allegedly defrauding Spanish authorities of  a staggering £13m for years, between 2011 and 2014. A trend which seems to be on the rise with top earning footballers in Spain. 

In a public statement, the prosecutor's office reported that Ronaldo had knowingly and deliberately used a 'business structure' created in 2010 to hide his income in Spain from his image rights. In other words he created a fake company off shore to help hide the considerable taxable income he earns from his image rights. 

The Real Madrid footballer was named by Forbes as the highest paid athlete in the world with a staggering income of $93 million. The Portuguese is also ranked as the 5th highest earning celebrity on the planet.
