HOW TO MAKE AND USE A COLD COMPRESS: 3 SIMPLE METHODS

A cold compress is very useful in relieving one from immediate pain and swelling withing the first 48 hours of an injury. as the name implies a cold compress is made and applied over the affected skin. Cold compress should not be used on open wounds as this might cause infection. Here are 3 simple ways of making a cold compress:

1) Ice method

Get some cubes of ice and wrap it in a towel. put it on the affected area for 10-20 minutes and remove it for about 10-20 minutes. Continue alternating it like this till you feel better.

2) Frozen food method

If you don't have ice cubes, you can use frozen food instead. Wrap a towel around the plastic bag of frozen food and apply it on the affected area. remember to alternate it.

3) Cold towel compress method

This method is the next best thing to the ice or frozen method. It is very convenient to use. Take some pieces of towel and soak it with water. squeeze it enough to allow some water in it. put them in a plastic bag and keep in the freezer for about 45 minutes. remove the towel and apply it on the affected area.
