Donald Trump accuses Obama of wiretapping him in Trump towers during elections
Trump is pissed. And Obama and his administration are the objects of his fury. Nobody has ever accused the outspoken US President of not speaking his mind. In fact he needs little encouragement in that regard.
Here are parts of his lengthy tweet:
“Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” the 70-year-old real estate mogul tweeted early in the morning, referring to former Sen. Joseph McCarthy’s adamant hunt to out alleged Communists in the U.S. using scare tactics back in the 1950s.
“Just out: The same Russian Ambassador that met Jeff Sessions visited the Obama White House 22 times, and 4 times last year alone,” Trump continued. “Is it legal for a sitting President to be ‘wire tapping’ a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW! I’d bet a good lawyer could make a great case out of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to Election! How low has President Obama gone to tapp my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!”
However, these facts have emerged about the wiretaping incident— Breitbart posted an article just one day prior that claimed the Obama administration made two Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) requests in 2016 to monitor Trump’s communications from Trump Tower, with a focus on any possible ties to Russian banks. And just like Trump said, nothing incriminating was found.
In response to the accusations, NYC Media Lab executive director Justin Hendrix provided a lengthy reply on Twitter, saying the wiretaps were not illegal but had been approved.
