Ingredients for making Omam Rice /Ajwain Rice:
- Cooked rice 2 cups
- Omam /Ajwain 2 tea spoons
- Red chillies 3
- Pepper corns 1 tea spoon
- Cumin seeds 1 tea spoon
- Coriander seeds 2 tea spoons
- Asafoetida powder 1/2 tea spoon
- Dry ginger powder (Sukku podi) 1/2 tea spoon
- Salt as per taste
- Gingelly / Sesame oil 3 table spoons
- Curry leaves
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tea spoon
- Urad dal 1 tea spoon
- Red chillies 2
- Turmeric powder 1/2 tea spoon
- Jagerry powder 2 tea spoons (optional)
How to make Omam Rice (Ajwain Rice)?
Heat a pan and dry roast omam, pepper, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chillies till nice aroma comes.
Once they get cooled down add the dry ginger powder and jagerry powder and powder to a coarse stuff.
Heat a pan with oil and do the seasoning with mustard, urad dal, asafoetida, red chillies and curry leaves. Add turmeric powder. If needed add few cashews too.
Once they are spluttered and roasted add the powdered stuff and give a fast stir and add the boiled rice with required salt to the pan.
Mix gently and switch off the stove.
The appetizing Omam Rice is ready to serve now.
